The leading end of the capsular tension
ring may entangle with the bag fornix. This is indicated
by traction folds in the posterior capsule. If the end
is forcibly pushed farther, it may perforate the capsule.
Entanglement
occurs more readily with large or rigid capsular tension
rings. Such entanglement can be avoided with adequate capsulorhexis
sizing and with the use of high viscosity viscoelastic
substances.
